WS7 New Zealand Electricity A division of the Ministry of Energy CAREERS IN STEAM POWER •PLANT OPERATION THE ELECTRICITY DIVISION of the Ministry of Energy is seeking persons for positions of Powerhouse Attendants and Auxiliary Plant Operators, at New Plymouth Power Station. THE APPLICANTS: Either holding or having experience that will enable them to qualify for Ministry-of Transport Certificates of Competency — Boiler Attendant, 2nd or Ist Class Stationary Engine Drivers Certificates, Third Marine Certificate — or have served a mechanical fitting apprenticeship or experience in .the operation or maintenance of heavy rotating plant of marine engineering. > . Every assistance and encouragement will be given with study towards- the required qualifications. Divisional training courses are conducted for all levels of development and successful appointees will be required to attend. THE PROSPECTS: Initial appointment will be either as Powerhouse Attendant or Auxiliary Plant Operator (depending upon qualifications and ■ experience), for training in the operation of steam power plant. Promotion is available to higher operating positions either at New Plymouth or other stations such as Huntly.
