University wins relay
The University of Canterbury! Harrier Club won its third consecutive Lovelock relay at Dunedin last Saturday, half a minute ahead of Otago University. The highlight of the win was the record-breaking lap by Andrew Stark. He beat his own record set. two years ago by one second. He ran the mile lap in 3min 525. Gerry Merchant took Canterbury' into the lead in the second lap and the six-man team stayed'
in the lead, finishing in 25min Ils. The team comprised John Stark, Merchant, Andrew Stark, Mike Johnston. Mike Tarrant and Brian Kennelly. John Stark recorded -Imin 7s for third fastest time, while Kennelly was next fastest of the Canterbury University runners with 4min 13s. Lincoln College, led by Alan Thurlow with a 4min 8s lap. was fourth, ahead of some strong Otago clubs such as Arikl and Caversham.
