Strong rally competition
Paul Adams, the national rally champion, came in for some strong competition from the Christchurch driver, Trevor Crowe, before he won the Blenheim rally on Saturday. Adams, driving the G.M. Dealer Team’s Chevette, won the event by less than a minute from Crowe, who was driving his VB- - Avenger, but was helped by the fact that Crowe slid off the road at one stage. Third in the rally was Carl
y Rabbidge (Timaru, Escort RS e 1800) and fourth was the South e Island Rally champion, Alan r Hewlett (Kumara, Escort RS i- 2000). Following these two were the young Nelson driver, Richard I- Hunt (Escort RS 1800) and Alan e Wills (Duntroon, Escort RS 2000). o The unhappiest driver of the 1- rally was Don Grindley, who des molished his Mazda RX3 when e he rolled it end for end three times in the closing stages of 1 the rally.
