Fragrant pomander

With an orange you can make a fragrant spicey ball to hang in your kitchen. Before we had sprays and special ventilation in kitchens, people used to make their own air fresheners. They are called pomanders. You will need an orange, whole cloves, cinnamon, a paper bag, two lengths of coloured ribbon about 40cm by 2cm wide, and a length ; of Jape.

What to do 1. Insert the stems of the cloves into the skin of the orange. Put them all over the orange about Icm apart. 2. Sprinkle 2 teaspoonfuls of cinnamon into the paper bag. 3. Put the orange into Hie bag, and shake it to spread the cinnamon. 4. Remove .the orange from the bag.

5. Put one length of ribbon round the orange and tie in in a knot at the jtop. 6. Slip the second length of ribbon under the first length at the bottom. Bring one end over and under again. Tie the two ends at the top. Tie the length of tape around the knotted ribbon. Hang by ithe tape in a suitable place.
