t modest to -admit it, Mr E.' S. Palliser, general manager of A.A. Canterbury, took the initiative in moving the association into the travel business. As far back as 20 years age he is on record urging the New Zealand Automobile Association to take a “close and careful look” at expanding the travel services that were then available in the form of. international driving permits, triptyques, carnets, and reciprocal service tickets. The_A.A.C. was the first to form its own travel . company. . Today . A.A. Travel is controlled by a board of directors comprising .'Messrs T. E. Craig (chairman), H. G. Hunt, .T. W. Milliken, E. S. Palliser, and W. A. Penrose (Dunedin).
