First-ciass marathon
An American, Robert Blume, is at present aiming for a world recorj for the most miles flown first-class in a month. Starting in San Francisco last Friday, he plans to fly more than 180,000 miles straddling Europe, Africa, and the South Pacific and back.
Mr Blume has bought a first-class “Passport 30” ticket on Pan Am which allows him unlimited travel on the airline’s system for 30 days. He is a former reservations agent for Braniff International who now trains sales agents for airlines at the Northwest School in Portland, Oregon.
If he manages to cover 180,000 miles it will cost him 1.85 cents per mile. His first-class “Passport 30” ticket cost him $3333.
