38 die in air crash

Thirty-eight people were killed and 12 injured when a Thai Airways aircraft crashed in a sudden rainstorm as it approached Don Muang Airport, about 30km north of Bangkok, the police said yesterday. The plane, a twin-engine British-built turbo-prop used for domestic flights, crashed in a rice field about Ikm from the Wat Ton Thang Buddhist temple. The injured were taken to hospital.
