I : The above allowances are; (taxable in Western Samoa. I FURLOUGH: i Will be granted in respect of actual service in Western Samoa and is one consecutive day for each 12 days of service DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (1) Ensure efficient operation i of Earth Station. (2) Control of all Satellite earth station staff. Prepare and transmit all routine INTELSAT statistical returns. (3) Action all requests from INTELSAT Manager on day-to-dav matters related to operation of the Earth Station. (4) Brief the Operations Representative on all matters related to forward planning of Western Samoa traffic needs (engineering aspects and space sector requirements as indicated bv the Manager. (5) Maintain INTELSAT documentation (S.S.O.G. and 5.5.0. P.). 6) Undertake analytical assessment of equipment performance, evaluate trends and recommend design changes where necessary in conjunction with the equipment sup-] plier. (7) Authorise stores ordering to maintain minimum spares holdings. (8) Prepare annual estimates fo r Earth Station operations. (9) Oversee staff training. (10) Other radio technical] managerial duties as directed by the Telecommunications Controller. (11) Co-ordination with other Post Office radio technical activities. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: (a) University education with a degree or diploma in engineering or science (minimum 3 to 4 years advanced studies beyond Secondary School) with evidence of specialisation in telecommunications OR an equivalent level of education and specialisation in the field relevant to the technical and Managerial activity of the post, supported by appropriate qualifications or references. (b) Extensive experience in the field of radio communications generally management of radio technical staff. (c) Experience in the test out anfl commissioning of earth stations or similar facilities. (d) A thorough working knowledge of the INTELSAT rules and operating procedures. ie) A thorough knowledge of SCPC and PCM/PSK techniques. GENERAL: A soft furnishing allowance of SWSSO will be paid in respect of approved items. A boarding allowance of JWSBOO p.a. will be paid for each dependent child in country of recruitment. Storage charges will be paid in country of recruitment up to SWSIS per week. Insurance up to an amount of 5W52000 cover on personal effects taken to Western Samoa will be re-imbursed. Furnished accommodation (heavy) will be provided at a rental of SWSI2O to SWSI6O per month. Freight will be paid on household and personal effects sent by sea up to 1.7 cubic metres for a single officer, and 5 cubic metres and .6 cubic metres for each dependent child for a married officer.
