The naked lunch?
j NZPA-Reuter London The case of the Streatham brothel will be raised in the House of Commons. Mr Clement Freud, Liberal M.P. for the Isle of Ely, has tabled a Commons question to the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir Geoffrey Howe) asking whether “it is his intention to widen the scope of goods available in exchange for luncheon vouchers.”
His question comes after the conviction of a 46-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to exercising control over three prostitutes, and keeping a disorderly house in Streatham.
A police raid on the brothel found a member of the House of Lords, a North-
em Ireland member of Parliament, and a vicar waiting in line.
The brothel’s mostly middle-aged and well-to-do clientele were admitted by tickets costing $55 that entitled them to go to a “party,” eat, drink, watch pornographic movies, see live sex shows, and enjoy the services of a choice of 13 prostitutes. Mr Freud was not available to explain why he had tabled his question. But; many members were regarding it as a joke about the revelations at Inner London Crown' Court on Monday. The Chancellor, or one of his junior Ministers, will have to answer the question, even though it is couched in frivolous terms.
