Westville impressive trialist at Awapuni

Special correspondent i Palmerston North •

Westville provided the star turn at Awapuni yesterday when he easily beat Two Can Play in his final gallop for the Brevet Handicap here tomorrow. Westville is a good track worker at any time, and this trial suggested he had thrived since running a splendid third at Otaki last week.

Jim Cassidy will ride Westville in the second leg of the double. Paul Belsham is on Two Can Play in the same race.

Two Can Play was unlucky'at Hastings last week yet she was no match for Westville yesterday. I Working on the plough, Westville finished well clear

at the end of 1400 m in Imin 30.45, the final 1000 m in Imin 4.65. Save is in the Brevet as well and she was not after time as she galloped 1400 m in Imin 32.45. Save is engaged at Waipukurau as well but she will run on her home track if the fine weather holds. Save ran fine races on bad ground at Riccarton. She looks extra well and will be hard to beat in the Brevet. Rabalam ran her 1400 m easily in Imin 39.65, the last 600 m in 42.25. Rabalam would need easy or soft ground on Friday and stablemate Westville looks the better prospect. Cielle ran from the 800 m, the last 600 m in 395, and she will contest the metric mile here tomorrow instead of racing at Waipukurau.

Qamargue and Oscar’s Choice covered 1400 m in Imin 325. Camargue disappointed at Otaki but could do better in the R.S.A. Handicap. Oscar’s Choice is likely to race at Awapuni instead of at Waipukurap. Epic was doing better than Running Wild at the end of 1000 m in Imin 4s. Epic was impressive and could be hard to beat in the Freyberg Handicap. Running Wild was unlucky at Hastings last week. ‘>.e is in the Apprentices’ Handicap and will more than likelv start here instead of at Waipukurau. Park Lady was most impressive in running the last 800 m of her work in 50.65, the final 600 m in 37.65. She is in fine form and should do well in the R.S.A. Handicap.
