Golden Rhapsody has easy win
The Matamata trainer, Dave O’Sullivan’s Sydney autumn drought. ended last Saturday at Randwick when Golden Rhapsody careered away for an easy win in the Seaview Champagne Welter (1600 m The stylish chestnut made light of his 59.5 kg top weight and went to the line three and a half lengths clear of Career, with Peggy Sue third, a neck away. New Zealand heavyweight jockey, Roger Lang, who came over to Sydney to ride the five-year-old Sharivari
entire, always had Golden Rhapsody among the leaders and dashed him to the lead just over the rise in the Randwick straight to score easily. In .’the $25,000 AJ.C. St Leger Stakes (2800 m Shogun romped home by 14 lengths after unwinding a brilliant finish. (
He was followed by Aldric and the New Zealandbred Farewell Chime (Adios II—Belladell) was threequarters of a length away third.
Picking up the $lOOO fourth prize was O’Sullivan’s other Randwick entry, the three-year-old Owens, also ridden by. Roger Lang. Owens finished four lengths behind Farewell Chime after being up with the leaders all the way. The New Zealandbred River D’Or (RivertonGolden Goddess) was a further three lengths back for fifth.
