The Twinkle might star at Otago
Special corresondent Dunedin
The Twinkle could break through for her first win of the season when she con” tests the A.N.Z.A.C. Handicap, first leg of the Otago Racing Club’s T.A.B. double tomorrow.
The beaten favourite at her last start a fortnight ago at Riccarton, The Twinkle has had some useful placings this season, particularly at tomorrow’s distance, 1600 m.
She was runner-up to her stablemate, The Fantasy in the White Robe Stakes at Wingatui in February and fourth behind Yipp’s Secret, and TuiL Lass in the Aluminium Stakes over the same distance at Ascot Park in January. Two starts back she chased home
Scotch Mist in the Great Easter Handicap 1400 m at Riccarton.
Master Grey, an up and coming 4-year-old trained on the course, could offer most opposition to The Twinkle. Master Grey has thrived since he won last time out over 1400 m on the second day of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Easter meeting. He has won six races this season, including three sprints at Wingatui. He mastered 1600 m at Ascot Park in November.
Bold Mellay has a good record at the distance on the course and he is a recent winner. He won the race last year. First Ace would only need to run up to his best efforts in class one to win the Victory Handicap, second leg of the T.A.B. double.
