STAR FOR A STAR

The New Zealand international road racer,* John Woodley, left, accepts a new safety helmet from Mr Rick Tapley, managing director of the Christchurch firm of Star Products. Woodley will wear the new full-face Helmet, designated the Fl2l, during his present European campaign. The new helmet, which meets both New Zealand and Australian safety

standards, was recently launched on the ' home market. It was extensively tested by Woodley before his recent departure for Europe. Improvements were made as a result of this testing. The lining was altered and the location of the strap changed. Woodley, who previously favoured an imported brand of helmet, intends to assist further in the development of the helmet design. But he is

well pleased with the Fl2l as it is. “The Star Fl2l is much lighter and more comfortable than the helmet I have been using,” said Woodley. He says he is suffering from less neck strain in longer races and when on long touring trips. Strain and fatigue in neck muscles is a problem faced by long distance riders and racers and can affect concentration and reaction time.
