Big spill of 2,4,5-T
PA Whangarei Part of the Whangarei railway yards was evacuated yesterday morning after 60 litres of double-strength 2,4, 5-T had seeped out of a railway waggon. The Whangarei fire brigade called in inspectors from the Health Department and ' the Ministry of
Agriculture to advise them on what to use to neutralise the spill. The firemen used oxygen and protective gear to ensure that they did not inhale fumes or touch the 2,4, 5-T.. They ’ covered the spill-with-dry soil and removed the spoil and buried it. .
