Red Cross collection up 20 p.c.
The Red Cross collected more than $70,000 in North Canterbury in its annual house-to-house appeal on Saturday. The North Canterbury contribution was about 15 to 16 per cent up bn last year, said the branch’s secretary manager (Mr J. Mahoney). About $670,000 was collected throughout New Zealand, a 20 per cent increase on last year’s contributions. According to the society, money is still coming from people who were missed by collectors or .who were out when they called.
