Cycling in tunnel

Sir, —I was disappointed with Mr Lancaster’s remarks (“The Press,” April 21) regarding the Lyttelton Tunnel. He claimed that “we (i.e. the M.0.W.) are not staffed sufficiently to find out how big the demand is.” Surely the fact that about 50 people were motivated enough to support a campaign against

the lack of cycle access through the tunnel is proof enough that there is a substantial demand for cycle access?—Yours, etc., HELEN CRABB. April 21, 1980.
