Students show aptitude
Teachers’ College made a successful entrance to Australian Ruler football in Christchurch when it won its first match in the new competition. Although only one Australian graced its ranks, the Teachers’ College team proved it was not short of quick learners by downing Avon, 71-46. A. Marshall, D. Doak and
M. Seelan showed up for College, and Avon’s ; best players were G. Gardner, B. Mather and T. Daniels. Last year’s premier side,. Brighton, struggled to beat Ashburton by the narrow margin of 73-74. Several notable individual contributions helped Ashburton markedly, but Brighton’s consistent teamwork just carried the day. ‘ '
