Crown’s ability to acquire land compulsorily. The bill is also expected to restrict the Crown’s right to enter private land and there may also be more liberal compensation provisions. The Public Works Act, which is 50 years old, has been amended frequently but the proposed bill would be the first attempt at a total revision. The Government had announced it would review the Public Works Act when it passed the National Development Act last year.
