Kaiapoi and Riccarton, the joint winners last year, were both beaten in the second round of the premier grade billiards competition. . Richmond, in spite of a surprise loss by its top player, Ken Giles, -beat Kaiapoi, 2-1, and Woolston accounted for Riccarton by the same score.
