Pat Booth to join Radio Pacific
PA Auckland Pat Booth, deputy editor of the “Auckland Star” is resigning to join Radio Pacific' as a news executive. He will leave the “Star” at the end of April and begin work in his new post early next month. Mr Booth, who is 50, has been deputy editor of the “Star” for the last three years. For nine years he was a key figure in the campaign on behalf of Arthur Allan Thomas, pardoned last year after being convicted of the Crewe murders. Mr Booth’s interest in the] case began with a study of the evidence at the Thomas trials, which was followed by a series, of articles published by,the “Star.”.
Mr Booth was responsible for organisation of the “Star” editorial team's cuug investigation, which this week won the Qantas national award for the single best piece of journalism for the year. He wrote the book, “Mr Asia File,” which arose out of that investigation and is now on sale. He is the author of several other books, including "Long Night Among the Stars,” second prize Winner in the Otago- Daily Times centennial contest of. 1961. •
Mr Booth joined the “Auckland Star” in 1950. He [rejoined the paper as assistant editor in 1972' after a period as editor of the Roman Catholic newspaper, “Zealandia.” . .
