Pigeon race results
The husband and wife team of Len and Dawn McGllvary was the over-all winner of the South Island futurity pigeon race on Saturday. The 810 birds, released from: Picton at 9.50 a.m., encountered difficult flying conditions and the first home did not reach Christchurch until just on 3 p.m. The McGilvary’s bird finished comfortably clear in shrs 4min, i a rate of 909 m a minute for the 275 km journey."
