N.Z. marathon victory

However, Pilone took control of the race at the half-way mark with his powerful running style. Pilone, of Mt Eden, conducts his own business in Auckland where he resoles running shoes. Five other New Zealanders competed with Gordon Speirs finishing ninth in 2:31.19, Bryan McCarthy fortieth in 2:45.24, Paul Stephens fifty-ninth in 2:50.02, Ken Smith who came in one hundred and thirty-first in 3:04.12, and Lewis Stevens who was one hundred and fifty-sixth in 3:10.49.
