Anyone who drinks alcohol to an extent which puts their blood or breath alcohol level above the legal limit and who then drives a motor vehicle is in danger of physical injury, bringing untold suffering upon themselves or others, and placing undue strain on New Zealand’s social services. The Ministry of Transport is out to stop it. Anyone caught driving ‘beyond the limit’ can expect no sympathy. Did you know that the maximum penalties for those who are caught are: Up to three months jail? A fine up to $1500? Arid loss of licence for at least six months?
