Farrell Lines to serve Lyttelton
In response to requests from shippers ' for service between South Island ports and the east coast of ’ North America, Farrell Lines has extended its service to include Lyttelton, as well as its regular calls at Auckland and Wellington. The new service, according to the line’s marketing manager (Mr A. N. Rowntree), will begin in June with a visit by the Austral Pioneer, one of Farrell’s several fully cellular container vessels, which will arrive at Lyttelton direct from Melbourne. The vessel will then call at Wellington and Auckland before sailing for New Orleans. The second scheduled visit to Lyttelton by a Farrell vessel will be by the Austral Ensign in July. She will be replaced later this year on the North AmericaNew Zealand-Australia run by the new Austral Puritan. The line’s ships also accept bulk liquids, break-bulk heavy cargoes, and oversized shipments. .» ARRIVALS Coastal‘Trader (7.12 a.m.), 2500, Auckland (S.C.N.Z.).
