Greyhounds Serene Silk in scorching form
The classy and consistent Serene Silk left no doubt about which greyhound will start favourite for the Tanqueray Laurels at the Christchurch Club’s totalisator meeting on Friday evening with an impressive win in the heats at Queen Elizabeth II Park last evening. The Silent Wonder—Happy Ending bitch ran past Moana’s Ladv near the end of the back straight, and won by four lengths in the fastest time of the four heats. Moana’s Lady went boldly for her placing, and must be a place prospect in the final. Kotuku Waderin, hotly pursued over the last 300 m by Silent Illusion held that runner at bay in the second heat, and Tarport Hap just got in a telling stride on the line to nose out the pacemaker, Smuggler’s Lass, In the third. The final heat was won by Club Hostess, which led over the last 200 m and won by almost two lengths from Diamond Edge, which made ground steadily after being one of the last into the back straight.
