Gas men strike
PA Auckland Auckland gas workers yesterday went on an indefinite strike, but the Auckland Gas Company says it can still cope with serious emergencies. If there were a major gas leak, executive staff “could make it safe,” said the Managing Director (Mr A; Veart). Auckland and Hamilton gas workers decided on immediate strike action at stopwork- meetings yesterday. Wellington workers are also to strike.
