Philippa Frost looks set to win at Addington

By

G. K. YULE

Philippa Frost’s brave run for third to Trevira and Roydon Scott in the Easter Cup on April 5 will result in her starting a dominating favourite in the 100 Pipers Handicap at Addington Raceway this evening.

Phillipa Frost’s latest placing stamps her as one of the more talented mares in New Zealand today, especially as she paced the 3200 m in 4min 7.95, far in advance of anything returned by her rivals in this evening’s race. Be Sly shaped like an early improver when he ran out a decisive winner at the (Addington trials last Wednesday. There will be a sharp rise in class in this field, but if the breaks’go his way, he could make Phillipa Frost work hard as she attempts to graduate to the verge of open company. Timely Robin was found wanting in the Easter Cup, but his form before that was good enough to give him a great chance of sharing in the stake in this type of race. If allowed to dictate the pace, he' will take catching.

Fallimento was a last-start winner in style on April 5. His wins have in the past been Well spaced, but he won with such authority that he must be considered a leading chance. The form backgrounds of the others are of very mixed quality and the pick of them could be Westburn Vue, Not a Chance and Miss Pert.
