Car fraud claim
A man who claimed to be an accountant formerly employed by Mills, Brown and Muldoon, of Auckland, and who attempted to obtain a $13,000 car from a city car firm, was remanded yesterday without plea to April 16 on a charge of fraud. He is Richard James Webster, aged 30, unemployed, who was granted bail of $l5OO by Judge K. W. Frampton in the District Court. It is alleged that with in-
tent to defraud, Webster attempted to obtain a $13,000 car from a Christchurch firm by means of a false pretence by falsely representing that he was Roger WebsterSussex, a chartered accountant, and that he had formerly been employed in that capacity by the Auckland firm of accountants. The alleged offence was said to have occurred on April I.'
