College integrated
PA Wellington Sacred Heart College, Lower Hutt, yesterday became the first Roman Catholic secondary school to integrate with the State education system.
The agreement, which will take effect in the second term, was formally signed by the Minister of Education (Mr Wellington) and representatives of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions, proprietors of the college. Mr Wellington said he envisaged a further five primary schools being integrated by the second term. It was possible that about 50 Roman Catholic schools would be integrated in the next 12 months.
