Prime cattle values drop at least $10

Values for prime cattle declined at least $lO at Addington market yesterday. For heavy-weight steers the decrease was even greater. The prime cattle yarding more than doubled but the; buying power, could not meet the increase. ■ Lambs and two-tooth ewes and wethers were easier, but ' the market for old ewes firmed. The .yarding was 588” compared with 263 : last week. Some cattle were quoted 10 cents a kilogram cheaper than at the last sale. The! best steer price was $459 for one of two beasts from Parnassus. The top heifer price was $370, and cows reached $326. Heifers and steers up to 270 kg sold between 127 c and 134 c; 220 kg to 270 kg, between 126 c and 132 c; over 270 kg. 127 c. Most of the 152 adult store cattle offered were of, mediocre quality and values! suffered. For the odd pen of! better quality prices were! $lO down on recent sales.
