Mr J. I. Gair who has been appointed Minister (Commercial) and Senior Trade Commissioner, Tokyo. Mr Gair joined the Department of Trade and Industry in 1958 and has served overseas as Assistant Trade Commissioner, Tokyo, 1965-68, Trade Commissioner, Hong Kong, 1969-72, and Acting High Commissioner, Counsellor (Commercial) and Trade Commissioner, Port of Spain, 1976-78. Since 1978 he has been Director of Industrial Development for the department, based in Wellington.
