Free enterprise and monopoly
: Sir, — If we wish' to retain a free enterprise system it will have to be more equitable than the present one. The increasing take-over by -monopolies is a contradiction of free competition. To argue that a' larger organisation is more efficient merely gives credence to the argument that state monopoly is the most efficient of all. We cannot have it both ways. If we want credibility here we have to ensure that • the young have employment so that they can at least get a first step on the ladder of participation. If everyone gets a chance to share there <could come a time when, to have more than a reasonable share could be seen as a vulgarity, especially in a world that is basically underfed. — Yours, etc. J. SHARP. April 1, 1980.
