Thistledown
The fashion forecast for winter this year is the pure elegant and sophisticated look of the 40s and early 50s. ’ Skirts are straight or softly pleated in textured.wools and bold colours so it is only right that they should be complemented by lacy, feminine knitwear. Kaiapoi has the message for fashion this autumn with a beautiful new range of double knitting wools for lacy, knits called “thistledown.” According to Kaiapoi, thistledown is more than a look, it is a feeling. The yarn for the 80s is an acrylic/mohair comwhich creates the brushed, light, fluffy look. The 25gm “whirl” balls come in a range of nine different colours — optic-
al white, black, hyacinth, elderberry, sere-brown, copse, barley, glade green and carnation, all in a specially designed presentation box. Thistledown,, the first mohair blend, by Kaiapoi can be purchased from the Wool Baa in .the Gloucester Arcade. To support the release of this new lightweight wool, Kaiapoi have also designed 10 poster-size patterns to promote the new look. The designs include patterns for lacy herringbone cardigans and waistcoats, a solman er, a polo neck and a cowl neck sweater, a lacy twinset, ' a long-line jumper cardigan and cap and a his and hers sweater. — All very easy to knit.
