One man ! was acquitted and the eight were released after the sentencing pending appeals. , Supporters of the accused clashed with riot police proitecting the court building and four people were injured, the police said. The nine were arrested when the police clashed with demonstrators protesting against plans to build a huge 5200mW nuclear power station at Plogoff, on the tip of Brittany’s Atlantic coast. —■’ Quimper, France. Afghan exercise The Afghan Army has begun four days of military exercises in Bukhak, near Kabul, according to a Radio Kabul report monitored in Islamabad. In a rare announcement, the radio advised citizens not to be scared during the exercises, in which the 88th unit of the Afghan Army is to participate. Meanwhile in Peshawar near the Afghan bora der, a spokesman of the Islamic Alliance for the Liberation of Afghanistan has said that a new Soviet-Af-Ighan attack in the northern part of Kunar province is reported to have caused some 3000 families from a dozen villages to flee. — Islamabad.
