Grant for hospital

Wellington reporter A commissioning grant of $2.1 million has been approved for the stage -1 clini-cal-services and ward block at the Christchurch Hospital, the Minister of Health (Mr Gair) has announced. Stage 1 provides for 304 beds in 12 wards on six floors as. well ■ as staff and teaching facilities; ' A
With- the: closing and re-use or demolition of a number of existing wards the' new block will add a further 45 beds, increasing the total in the hospital from 422 to 467.'
Mr' Gair said the grant represented about a quarter of ..the total New Zealand commissioning grants approved in the 1979-80 financial year. - v
