Salmon anglers 'left in dark’
' Wellington, reporter Salmon fishermen are angry at being “left in the dark” about salmon ranching by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. •The president of the Salmon Anglers’ Association (Mr R. G. Lightfoot) has told his members in the association’s monthly journal. the . “Salmon Angler,” that he has found it: difficult to tell them anything. “Tile reason,’ quite simply, is that the Minister of Agfjr— d..-- - Fisheries (Mr. Maclntyre) and senior r,iih,>.. .

at the moment” he said. “This is salmon ranching. and the necessary regulations to supervise properly their formulation, and protect the sport fisherman’s interest, and his or her right as a licence-holder. ' “Our association, the statutory bodies, and the supposed managers of the freshwater fisheries (the Acclimatisation Societies) are purposely being left in the dark on this matter,” Mr Lightfoot said. He called on association members to exert maximum pressure on their local member of. Parliament to save salmon from “total, exploitation from present Government and private -commercial interests.”
