Credit for petrol opposed
PA Dunedin Service-station owners are firmly opposed to credit-card transactions for petrol, the chairman of the petrol-station division of the Motor Trade Association (Mr lan McMeeking) has said. Mr McMeeking said the association was concerned about the recent announcement by the banks to introduce bank-card transactions for petrol. He said this development had come in spite of the fact that the Government was investigating the whole position of plastic card transactions for petrol. “Our association is firmly opposed to creditcard transactions for petrol incorporating a commission. In terms of profitability, the industry cannot afford it,” Mr McMeeking said.
