Chemical leaks
PA Auckland Twenty-one neighbours were treated in Middlemore Hospital for. tear gas symptoms, running eyes and noses and nausea, when; an agricultural chemical — chloropicrin — leaked from a glasshouse last evening. Hall Avenue residents in Mangere were evacuated by the police, and the area was sealed off when the effects of the gas' were noticed. Within 90 minutes they were back in their homes after firemen hosed down the glasshouse and gave the allclear.
