The. total exceeded $4.6M, compared t with the previous record; claimed by Meadowlands, New, Jersey, of $3,288,564, on August.! 3, 1978. , j The on-course total en Friday was $699,787.50, by tar the greatest ever at a trotting meeting In Australia. T.A.B, holdings also reached record proportions ot $1,944,536.50, while the bookmakers' holdings, estimated at more than S2M, were by far the greatest ever at Harold Park by some $700,000. • The crowd of 33,820 was the largest to pack the course since 1960 when 50,346 cheered the New Zealander, Caduceus, to victory over Apmat.
