The wholesale New Zealand lamb trade in the United Kingdom improved again last week as prices for domestic lamb and beef continued to rise as end of season stocks declined, according to the N.Z. Meat Producers’ Board. New Zealand lamb is more in demand because homekilled lamb is now hogget of variable quality' and higher priced in comparison. week because of the uncet tain market. Prices swun; from weak levels through i rally and back down again The average price for ins ported New Zealand con beef was 106 United State cents a lb c.i.f., after read ing a high of 110 c and a Id; of 101 c. .•£ MUTTON There was more active on the Japanese muttoi market last week as presse ham manufacturers havi found their existing stock are inadequate for immedlat production. Some 1400 tonnes of MB carcase mutton was bougt from New Zealand last wed at about 56USc a lb c. and ’ Japan, as well as 50 tonne of boneless mutton at ahov 78c.
