Lockwood homes are to be built under licence in the Philippines, the general manager of Lockwood Buildings, Ltd (Mr Cornelis La Grouw) announced in Rotorua. The newly-appointed licensee, Component Builders Philippines Inc. is tn concentrate on the low cost housing market. The company aims to supply Lockwood units to Government programmes in the resettlement of population outside metropolitan Manila. Lockwood components have been specially designed
with low cost housing in.mind. The main feature of the unit is a 43 millimeter thick solid timber tongue and groove wall, using boards that are not laminated or sheathed. Aluminium extrusion reduced in size to suit the boards will be initially supplied from New Zealand. The Filipino company is building a new factory and office block, with a village of Lockwood show homes adjacent. Mr La Grouw said components were being supplied from Rotorua.
