Sir, — Fred Steel (March 26) refers to my so-called intelligence. The majority of New Zealanders also have my sort of intelligence in voting for the Labour Party. For years New Zealand was a socialist country under a' socialist Prime Minister and party, and we led the world in our far-reaching policies, New Zealand under another socialist Labour Party will do the same again. As I often say I am not afraid of being called a socialist; I live like one, and. have friends in many parts of the world. An article written by a sociology student about, me and my way of life, helped him get his degree, and in it are my views on Bill Andersen. — Yours, etc « MISS D. J. BROWN. March 25, 1980.

Sir, — The advertisement “Afghanistan — are we next?” (“The Press,” March 20) disclosing the great number of countries fallen to the Marxist-Leninist form of Government must have shocked many. It is imperative that all who believe in “freedom” should unite and assist in the fight against these rebellious countries, where working class people (about 50 per cent of the world’s population) had the audacity to defy their capitalistic masters who, ironically, so generously provided those ungrateful people with means of existence in the first place. Surely, there must be numerous *'good’’ fascist-minded people with the courage to intercept and crush those forging Com. munist hordes to help restore the “good old times” — the days of the idle rich v. the struggling poor; high society v. the rabble; the well-nourished v. the semistarving — to those “oppressed” countries?
