General forecast: A slow-moving anticyclone in* the northern Tasman Sea is maintaining mainly fine weather over the North Island apart from some cloudy areas in western districts. Another anticyclone, in the southern Tasman Sea, isj moving on to the South Is-( land and settled weatheri should prevail in most dis-J
tricts there today. A cold front approaching southern New Zealand is weak and should bring only a few coastal showers to the south of the South Island. Centre forecasts: Christchurch, Ashburton, Timaru: Fine. Nelson, Blenheim: Fine. Westport. Greymouth, Hokitika: Becoming fine.
