Few power applications
Only 1600 applications had been received by the Trade and Industry Department in Dunedin by early March for the 25 per cent South Island electricity concession.
The department fears that many applications are lying on accountants’ desks waiting to be signed. The chairman of the North Canterbury Electric-Power Board (Mr C. H. Tyson) said at a. board meeting this week that the department had expressed concern at the concert hall on Tuesday. The ities’ Association conference in Dunedin on March 12 and 13. Many more applications had been expected. ‘ - Mr Tyson said that the concession rates would comb jnto force on April 1. People should ensure that their applications had reached the Trade and Industry Department. .
