Victory for Robins’ XI

PA Auckland The Derrick Kobins’ Young England cricket team scored an innings and 54-rnn victors over a Thames Valley Presidents’ XI at Ngatea yesterday. Richard Williams, the team’s spin bowler, paved the way to victory with an unbeaten 157, which included two sixes and 22 fours in the 254 minutes he was at the crease.

The Robins XI declared its first innings closed at 321 for eight at 3.30 p.m.. leaving the home side two and a half hours to. score the 149 runs and avoid defeat.

The Thames Valley side started soundly enough, getting to 42 before losing its first wicket. However it all went downhill after that, with Williams. claiming five wickets for 34 runs and making much better Use of, the pitch than the Thames bowlers had. The tourists’ next match is a three-day match against a Young New- Zealand side at Eden Park starting tomorrow.
