Labour against Springbok tour
Parliamentary reporter Under present circumstances, the Labour Party would oppose a Springbok tour next year and would, If the Government withhold visas, said the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Rowling) yesterday. “We have no information at present which sug-. gests that we should change our policy in any way,” Mr Rowling said, after a meeting of the party’s shadow Cabinet. “We will keep up with the play. There seems to be some interesting things happening at the moment,” he said. “We do know that some of the codes within the sports fraternity in South Africa are pushing for significant changes. We will watch each one of these changes very closely indeed and seek what advice we can from those who are able to watch it from much closer. “As the situation'stands at the moment, there is no indication at all that we should change our policy,” Mr Rowling said.
