DC3s irk council
The Christchurch City Council may take legal action about the five privately, owned DC3s that have been parked at Christchurch Airport for more than a year.
The council was now owed more than $21,000 in parking fees, the publicutilities committee was told yesterday. , ' An attempt'to export the aircraft - by. their owner, Island Associates, was stopped by the Government while it investigated whether
they might ultimately be bound for Rhodesia. A- suit has now been brought against the Government by Island Associates. In the meantime, the council has not heard from the company.' The aircraft occasionally have their engines run up by a company agent, and some have been taken on short flights' The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr H. G. Hay) said that the city should “take appropriate action” against the company for not paying the fees.
