Pre-season soccer
Western, Trans • Tours United and Rangers continue to be the front-runners in the Adidas pre-season regional soccer tournament after the fourth round of commetition on Sunday. Western holds a clear onepoint lead in section one while United and Rangers are joint leaders of section two. All three teams have eight points. , TT , Fourth round results: Halswell 2, Gladstone 0; Technical 2 Papanui W.M.C. 0; Western 3, Sunnyside 0; Shamrock 5, Woolston Foundry 1; S.A.S. 5, Avonhead Tavern 1; Trans Tours United 8. Nomads United 0; Rangers 5, Woolston W.M.C. 1- The game between New Brighton and CashmereWanderers was not played. One third round game, played late last week, resulted in a 5-3 win for Gladstone over Sunnyside. Technical and New Brighton will meet in the final of the Rangers Umbro pre-
season soccer tournament at Rangers- Park on Wednesday evening.
In the semi-finals yesterday, New ■ Brighton beat Rangers, 3-1, while Technical beat Western on penalties after extra-time.
