Halve the cost of a bidet in your bathroom

New Zealanders on tour in Europe soon get accustomed to the bidet in the bathroom. When they get home they find the cost of installing their own bidet prohibitive. A Wellington company is now manufacturing an attachment to the conventional household toilet bowl which enables it to double as a bidet. It is based on an American idea. Space saving, it also cuts the cost to as low as a fifth of that for installing a separate bidet. The unit is achrome-plated tube . with

a nozzle which swings out from beneath the toilet seat to eject a washing spray. After use the tube and nozzle can be easily swung out of the way. A small separate hot water system is required to meet New Zealand health and plumbing regulations. The average cost is about $5OO for installation, including the hot water cylinder. The unit and fittings, including mixer valve and taps cost about $2OO. It has been developed by Mr Trever Park, managing director of J. and A. Douglas, Ltd, Wellington. :. .
