Reporters’ credentials revoked
NZPA-Reuter Tel Aviv The Israeli Government has revoked the press credentials of an American network correspondesit who evaded military censorship by flying to Rome to file a story on Israel's nuclear capability. The report by a C. 8.5.. Radio correspondent, Dan Raviv, broadcast on Thursday night, alleged that Israel had conducted a nuclear test in the South Atlantic last September. It also said Israel had cooperated with South Africa in nuclear development since the mid-1950s and now had scores of nuclear bombs. The Defence Minister (Mr Ezer Weizman) denied the report on Friday and said it “talks about things that never were.” The network's Tel Aviv bureau refused to comment on the decision to revoke Raviv’s press card. Much of the information in Raviv’s report came from a book on Israel’s nuclear development written by two Israeli journalists, Eli TeL cher and Ami Dor-On. which was submitted to Israeli miL itary censorship two weeks ago. Teicher and Dor-On both denied having leaked a'draft to C.B.S.
